Online news: Lamb assumes Davey's role 3 February 2012

Norman Lamb MP has taken on responsibility for insolvency and consumer affairs after Ed Davey moved to the post of Energy secretary.

Downing Street confirmed the move today, which means Lamb is now Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).

Davey has been promoted to become Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, following the resignation of Chris Huhne.

Huhne, the former Energy Secretary, stood down after being charged with trying to dodge a speeding offence.

Davey leaves BIS one week after announcing no changes would be made to the current pre-pack administration regime following a consultation.
