Online news: No merger for Incasso and DWF 2 February 2012

Talks have broken down over a merger between law firms DWF and Cobbetts due to uncertainty over market conditions.

In a joint statement, both firms said their “preliminary discussion” over a possible merger had ended and no further action would be taken.

The statement said: “Growth by merger and lateral hires continues to be an option for both firms but until any discussions are brought to a conclusion, we will not be in a position to talk about them publicly.”

A deal would have seen debt recovery lawyers Incasso become part of DWF if a merger with the former’s parent Cobbetts had come to fruition.

Confirmation of talks between the two firms followed months of speculation about a deal.
