Online news: Borough issues enforcement tender 31 January 2012

A tender for bailiff services worth up to £1.5m in fees has been issued by the UK borough of Burton upon Trent.

The contract runs for two years, with an option to extend for another two, and is for the collection of unpaid council tax, business rates, benefit overpayments, commercial rent, other sundry debt and recycled referrals.

The successful firm must be able to deploy tracing services, liability order letter issues, bailiff warning letters, attachment of earnings and warrants of execution.

Services must be provided to all the councils in the borough, of which five out of eight have already expressed interest in operating this type of enforcement framework.

The value of the contract ranges between £500,000 to £1.5m.

Requests to participate in the tender process must be made by midday on 8 March.
